The Invested Investor: The new rules for start-ups, scale-ups and angel investing

Want a short cut to becoming a successful entrepreneur or angel investor? A new and groundbreaking book distils decades of experience, both good and bad, into an easy to read guide.

Founded by Peter and Alan Cowley, The Invested Investor is designed to increase the success rate for entrepreneurs and early investors by detailing the big do’s and don’ts.

An important theme of the book is honesty, something Peter feels isn’t widespread enough in the world of business. “Failure shouldn’t be glossed over.” he says. “Facing it and learning from it is critical in making the next venture a success.”

Peter is a Cambridge based serial entrepreneur and seasoned Angel Investor and, with co-founder son Alan, celebrated the release of their first book at the launch party on 18th October. It was attended by leading angel investors and entrepreneurs, some of whom shared their own war stories.

“After many months of hard work, discussions and reflections and hours of interviewing investors and entrepreneurs, we are delighted to be able to share our successes and failures.” said Peter, President of the European Business Angel Network (EBAN) and Chair of Cambridge Business Angels.

The book is a step by step guide through the business journey. Aimed at angel investors, entrepreneurs and anyone interested in start-ups and scale-ups, The Invested Investor shows what it takes to be an angel who, critically, adds more than just money.

Jon Bradford, serial entrepreneur and Director of the Bradfield Centre, where the book was launched said, “I have known Peter for many years and I am pleased to support such a great venture like Invested Investor, which is so timely and needed to help increase the success rate for  early stage investors and entrepreneurs!”

Co-founder Alan Cowley, further commented, “The book is not just about Peter’s experience but draws on many successes and failures from an array of investors, entrepreneurs and professionals. Without them being so generous with their storytelling and time, we would not have been able to publish the book.”

The Invested Investor’s mission is to generate a greater number of successful businesses, by improving the journeys of start-ups, through educating angels and entrepreneurs to make fewer mistakes, work better together and produce more successful exits.
